Six Untitled Poems

by Beverly Dahlen

Cornered one
whistles a
little larking
thought to
settle it

Buffalo girls
won’t you
come out
tonight

*

See who’s
at the door
minding
the stars
toasting Orion’s
belt Venus
peeked over
the horizon

*

What can never
be more
than silent this
trace of
absence between the
dark tongue
and moon’s storied
mouth

*

Delta
what about
it you can’t
have known
I’d be
alone &
waiting
at the bus
stop

*

Given an ear
tongue marks
the flowering
of the bell
inside
her hand &
all loveliness
leaping
& falling
through the air

*

How be
one
not one
be there
going be
fore me she
be going
there an
other such
one when
outhanded go
gone
one some
other be

*
